An Emotional Homecoming for Clinton

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

NEW HAVEN, CONN. -- Hillary Clinton briefly teared up again today while visiting her alma mater, Yale University, during a roundtable discussion with women voters on the eve of Super Tuesday.

Clinton was being introduced by Penn Rhodeen who has worked at the university's Child Studies Center for many years. Rhodeen choked up as he recalled the day when Clinton first arrived to the center back in the '70s wearing bellbottom pants; Clinton then began to tear up. When she took the microphone she said, "I said I would not tear up. Already we're not exactly on that path."

Interestingly, today's emotional moment is reminiscent of her teary-eyed moment in New Hampshire, the day before that state's primary and in front of a roundtable of mostly women.

Today's roundtable focused on issues like the economy and health care. But a weary and hoarse Clinton was forced to listen more than she was able to talk. At one point Clinton began coughing uncontrollably and asked staffers for a lozenge.

It was interesting to observe Clinton in her Yale environment and her natural ability to adapt to her surroundings and relate to her audience.

Clinton couldn't help but show off her vocabulary during her remarks, reaching deep into her Scrabble bag to pull out multisyllable gems such as "stymies", "triumvirate" and "indefatigable."
