Amy Winehouse remembered in father's new memoir

(CBS News) It's almost a year since Amy Winehouse's death, and fans can now get a glimpse into the life of the Grammy-winning singer through the eyes of her father, Mitch Winehouse.

Mitch spent months collecting his thoughts and writing down the memories that fill the new book, "Amy, My Daughter," out today.

In the memoir, Mitch chronicles his daughter's rise to fame and her struggles with drugs and alcohol.

He also takes aim at Winehouse's ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, blaming him for his daughter's downward spiral, reports USA Today.

"All the songs, apart from 'Rehab,' are about Blake," Mitch writes. "One of the biggest albums of the 20th century is all about the biggest low-life scumbag that God ever put breath into."

"Blake didn't kill her, but he still bears responsibility," Mitch adds. "He still makes me more than angry, going on about how Amy took to drugs 'like a duck to water.'"

Mitch said Amy had been on the road to recovery in 2011, adding, "But if you drink an extraordinary amount of alcohol, as she did in those last two days, it just doesn't matter."

The Amy Winehouse Foundation will receive all proceeds from sales of the book.

Winehouse died on July 23, 2011, of accidental alcohol poisoning.. She was 27.
