ROANOKE, Va. (CBS/AP) Aveion Malik Lewis, a 2-year-old boy, is missing in Roanoke, Va., and police are searching for three suspects who they believe stole the boy, bound his 4-year-old sister, knocked his step-father unconscious, and left a ransom note demanding money.

Aveion was taken late Jan. 14 by three men who broke into his family's apartment and hit his stepfather over the head, according to Roanoke police.

The stepfather says that when he woke up little Aveion was gone and his 4-year-old daughter was bound and restrained. He also found a note asking for money, CBS affiliate WDBJ reported.

Police say the men may be traveling in a white 1990s Chevrolet Blazer.

The boy is described as black with close-cut black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing yellow SpongeBob Squarepants footie pajamas.

Police say the suspects are a 6-foot-2 black male in his late 20s with a stocky build and beard; a 5-foot-11 black male in his late 20s with dreadlocks and a muscular upper body; and a 5-foot-11 black male, 23 to 24 years old, with no facial hair.

An Ambert Alert was issued Friday morning for Aveion.
