Alicia Silverstone Takes on the Web with TheKindLife.com

Will Ferrell has funnyordie.com, Gwyneth Paltrow has goop.com, Rainn Wilson has Soul Pancake and even Jessica Alba's hubby has gotten into the dot come game with ibeatyou.com. Now, Alicia Silverstone is bringing her star power and personal passion to the small screen, recently launching her very own eco-friendly Web property, TheKindLife.com.

The Clueless star recently gave me the dish about her site, her top 5 green must-haves as well as her favorite holiday treats.

What is TheKindLife.com all about?

It's a place for me to share all of my new recipes and discoveries in the food, style, and products world. Anytime I find something great, I can share it. If you are interested in health, the planet, or making greener or kinder choices in your life, then you will find all kinds of great new info here. It's also a great place for people to come meet each other, connect, and get advice and share ideas and tricks. It's a really loving and supportive place. I just love it!

Why was it important for you to you to start your own project?

I wrote the book because I knew it was time to share these amazing tools so everyone could have the best skin, feel their best, look their best and get closer to their true selves. The site was a way to keep that going; a support system for people on the journey or people curious about the journey. It is a place for me to really voice my truth and all the fun!

How green are you?

I'm green! I might be the greenest person I know. I mean, I'm not measuring my green-ness, I'm just always doing the best I can...trying to make the best choices possible given all circumstances that arise at any given moment.

What's your advice to live green in today's modern on-the-go world?

Eat a plant-based diet as much as possible. Join our site so you can have constant support, share, and get great ideas. Keep doing your best and caring, but don't be hard on yourself when you slip-up a little. Just get back on your plan....no biggie! There is too much fun to be had on this Earth-friendly Kind journey.

What are the Top 5 green things you can't live without?

1) All of my food! Umeboshi plums, umeboshi vinegar, brown rice syrup, my collard plant, Crispy Rice Treats with Chocolate Chips, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (recipes from the book)....

2) My clothesline! I love it!! My husband put it up for me on my 30th birthday. I just love it....the hanging of clothes, looking at it and taking the clothes down! It feels so Italian or something romantic like that.

3) My solar panels and my Prius.

4) My plastic bag dryer. It's a little wood thing that opens up that you put plastic bags on after rinsing them. It helps them dry out so you can use them again and again.

5) My compost and the friendly worms in there who have been with me for 10 years now or something like that.

What's your favorite organic/eco-friendly holiday recipe?

There are too many to list! But I love the cranberry pumpkin cheesecake that I recently blogged about on the website or my Peach Crumble, but made with apples instead so it's more holiday-style, or Seitan Picatta recipie inside kind diet - courtesy of joy at candle 79. Yummy!
