Algerian Forces Raid AQIM Weapons Workshop On a Tip Off by Defected Leader

echoroukonline:
Algerian security forces said they found a workshop for manufacturing and storing explosives east of Boumerdes province. Large quantities of the explosives in the place were to be used by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) in attacks in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, police sources told the Algerian Echorouk newspaper.

This operation came after a tip off by Amine Ben Touati, who uses the alias "Abou Tamime," a top aide of AQIM leader Abu Mus'ab Abdel Wadud and the commander of Al Ansar battalion, according to the report.

Ben Touati had surrendered to Algerian authorities recently. He guided the Algerian army to the location of the cache which contained huge quantities of TNT and explosive plates.
