Alabama couple charged with raping underage female relative

JONES, Ala. - Authorities said a married Alabama couple tried to obtain a baby by sexually assaulting an underage female relative, hoping that she would get pregnant.

Jeremy and Amanda Swann, both 29, were arrested Thursday. Both are charged with first-degree rape, court records state.

Dallas County Investigator Janet Cole told the Selma Times-Journal that the Jones, Ala., couple propositioned a girl to have sex with the man. They allegedly wanted the girl to have a baby for them.

Cole said the girl was assaulted at least six times. She apparently never got pregnant.

Jeremy Swann's mother, Dianna Swann, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She allegedly knew what was going on and didn't intervene.

"She was present when all the sexual acts were going on," Cole said, according to the Times-Journal. "She was there. She heard the girl screaming, and she did nothing."

The three are due in court Monday for a bond hearing.

Records show they don't yet have lawyers.
