Ala. couple charged with torturing 5-year-old son

(CBS/WHNT/AP) COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. - The Colbert County Sheriff says a man and his wife have been accused of torturing the man's 5-year-old son by putting a clothespin on the boy's  genitals for dancing inappropriately.

Dustin Davis Clever, 30, and Cinderella Sunshine Clever, 31, are charged with torture and willful abuse of a child.

Authorities say the couple punished the boy during a party at their home on Monday, August 1. The boy had been dancing with his older sister, and apparently made an inappropriate gesture. The woman punished him by attaching a clothespin to his genitals and then forced him to sit in a corner, reports CBS affiliate WHNT.

Sheriff Ronnie May said after this happened, the father walked in and learned of the situation, laughed, and then walked away. The sheriff says other guests at the party witnessed the whole incident and one reported it.

May says the couple is in the Colbert County Jail on $15,000 bail each. He says the boy was not injured.
