Adele leads 2011 AMA nominations
(CBS) Despite the health setbacks that have prevented her from continuing her U.S. tour, Adele has had a monster year. She capped it today by picking up four nominations, including Artist of the Year, for the 2011 American Music Awards.

The nominees were announced today in Los Angeles, by singers Nicki Minaj and Pitbull. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil' Wayne, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry all tied for second with three nominations each, while Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Jason Aldean, Kanye West, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and Pitbull gained two nods apiece.
Winners will be determined by a public vote on amavote.com and on ama.abc.com. Voting begins today and will continue through Oct. 21. For the Sprint New Artist of the Year Award, the top four candidates who receive the most votes will become the official nominees and voting for the winner will begin Oct. 24 and conclude during the American Music Awards ceremony on Nov. 20.
