Add Vista-like Taskbar Previews to Windows XP with Visual Tooltip
Visual Tooltip adds thumbnail previews to the Windows taskbar, allowing you to see what's beneath each button when you mouse over it.
Windows Vista offers similar functionality, but Visual Tooltip offers a ton of customization options. You can choose the size and opacity of the thumbnails, show them with or without titles, and even make them semi-permanent (by clicking the thumbtack icon).
The program also lets you add thumbnails to a floating dock, either automatically or one at a time. This dock effectively replaces the taskbar, which is kind of cool because you can rotate the thumbnails up to 80 degrees (creating a kind of bookshelf look).
I can't say Visual Tooltip is for everyone -- I haven't even decided if I'm keeping it -- but because it's free, there's no harm in taking it for a spin. It's compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
