A Tour Of New Fancy Foods
At the Fancy Food Show, CBS This Morning Consumer Correspondent Herb Weisbaum was asked: "Would you like to try some krelish?" What is krelish, you might well ask? Here's the answer, along with some other fancy food discoveries Herb made at the San Francisco event.
Here are some of the new products introduced at the International Fancy Food Show:
Krelish: It's kraut, but there's nothing sour about it. A blend of cabbage, red bell peppers, and spices from Mrs. Kleine's Ltd.
Francis Coppola Pasta, Sauces & Olive Oils: As in Francis Ford Coppola. Recipes from the film director's Italian roots.
Scotch Rocks: Spring water from Berridale, Scotland, packed in its own ice cube tray. Just freeze at home. Should make it to market soon. Imported by De Medici Imports, Ltd.
On The Rocks: Gourmet chocolate, cut and colored to look like polished stones, from All American Snacks, Ltd.
Papadini Pure Lentil Bean Pasta: Made entirely from lentils. There's not a drop of wheat in this stuff, and it has more protein per ounce than steak. Several varieties are available. From Adrienne's Gourmet Foods.
Olive Oil Potato Chips: These chips are fried in olive oil, so they're lower in saturated fat. They come in gourmet flavors like cracked pepper, lemon, rosemary, and plain. From Good Health Natural Foods.
Rose Petal Tea: A blend of hand picked rose buds and petals and China black tea. Should be out in time for Valentine's Day. From The Republic of Tea.
Peanut Butter Pillows: Pretzel nuggets filled with peanut butter. Coming soon from Sunflower Food & Spice Company.
Cosmic Chocolate Cake 2000: Cooks in just three minutes in the microwave and comes in its own baking cup. Available at the end of February from Canterbury Cuisine.
Hot Sauce for Cool Kids: Available in four levels of heat, with flavors specially blended for kids. From Mo Hotta Mo Betta.

Tom's Cookie Dough: Ready-to-bake cookies packed in an ice cream style carton. In five varieties.
Blasting Sauce: Hot sauce packaged to look like a stick of dynamite, complete with a fuse on top. From Galena Canning Co.
