A Sneak Peek At Now and Again

The Early Show's Mark McEwen went behind the scenes of the CBS sci-fi adventure drama Now and Again, where Margaret Colin plays Lisa Wiseman, attracted to husband Michael, portrayed by Eric Close.

The trick about the plot is that Lisa Wiseman's romance is with her dead husband, Michael, whose brain has been implanted into the body of a bionic man by a government scientist. Lisa is drawn to the mysterious and much younger Michael.

Now and Again also makes New York a main character in the show. And because the program is shot in the city, reality sometimes intrudes on illusion.

"It's hysterical to shoot in Grand Central at 5 o'clock. I mean we did that the other day, and then I'm trying to run into traffic, hail the fake movie cab and drive away. And you know? All these women are screaming at me. And then I'm just, you know, going, 'It's a movie, it's a movie, it's a movie!'" explains Colin.

But most of Now and Again is filmed on two soundstages in a former cement factory in Queens, N.Y., where illusion is the only reality.

There is a limo where Michael meets with Theo, played by Dennis Haysbert. But actually it is not even a real car; it is missing the front part.

"The front's open, so they'll shoot the cameras right into the
deal. You never know,"
says Close, demonstrating how to enter the half limo.

Michael's apartment is just a piece of canvas, explains actor Gerrit Graham, who plays Michael's best friend from his former life.
