35K expected at Mumford & Sons concert in Okla.

Guthrie, Okla. prepares for Mumford & Sons 01:26

The population of the Oklahoma town of Guthrie is expected to quadruple this weekend as more than 35,000 people come to watch British folk rock band Mumford & Sons.

The former capital of Oklahoma is one of three U.S. stops on Mumford & Sons' Gentlemen of the Road concert series. The others are Troy, Ohio, and St. Augustine, Fla.

Guthrie's city manager says the two-day festival is expected to generate more than $300,000 in sales tax revenue for the central Oklahoma town. The music and festivities started Friday.

The band wanted to perform in Oklahoma. Concert promoter Jam Productions suggested Guthrie.

Don Sullivan with Jam Productions says the town first got noticed based on how it looked on Google Maps. He says several visits confirmed it had a "unique charm."

In February, Mumford & Sons took home the album of the year honor at the Grammy Awards.
