LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) A second man had been arrested in the decades-old slaying of an elderly woman in Los Angeles.

Eighty-year-old Alice Lewis was found dead in her Venice home in 1975 and the case went unsolved for years.

In 2009, cold-case detectives matched a sample from the state's DNA database to evidence taken from the crime scene, leading to the arrest of Dennis Vasquez, who was 17-years old at the time of the crime.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department said detectives working the case developed a suspicion that Vasquez did not act alone.

On Dec. 12, the district attorney's office filed murder charges against Vasquez's friend Kevin Michael Shanahan, who was 15-years old in 1975.

He is currently in custody in Minnesota pending extradition.
