145 House Members Urge Bush To Close Guantanamo Detention Facility

McLatchy Newspapers is reporting that 145 House members - 144 Democrats, plus Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) - sent a letter to the President Bush today urging him to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility.

"The closure of the detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay would represent a positive first step toward restoring our international reputation as the leader of democracy and individual rights," the letter said.
