A tractor-trailer hauling four sharks to an aquarium in New York crashed into trees on the side of Interstate 95 in Volusia County, Florida Wednesday.
A 5-foot sandbar shark was killed but the other three survived, reports CBS Orlando, Florida affiliate WKMG-TV.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a tire on the truck split open, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the trees. The driver and two other passengers were not injured.
The 18-wheeler was transporting the sharks from Marathon, Florida, to the WCS New York Aquarium in Coney Island, New York.
The three surviving sharks were carried from the wreck by workers from SeaWorld in Orlando.
They put the sandbar sharks into new tanks. The sharks were to spend the night at SeaWorld.
