Timberwolves Shop Their Stadium Plan
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team has a plan to renovate Target Center and get a new Vikings stadium built, too.
Minnesota Public Radio reports that Timberwolves executives were circulating the plan with lawmakers last week.
The Timberwolves plan includes a new regional sports authority that would acquire current facilities and build two new ones. The costs are estimated at $1.73 billion, paid for with bonds issued by the Metropolitan Council. Some of that cost includes debt that is already outstanding on other facilities.
The Timberwolves and the city of Minneapolis have been seeking a $155 million upgrade to Target Center.
