St. Paul Hardware Store Closing After 80 Years

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A St. Paul hardware store that's been in business for 80 years is closing its doors after a real estate deal, according to its owners.

Seven Corners Hardware, located on 7th Street West near downtown St. Paul, will close its prime location across from the Xcel Energy Center. That's according to Bill Walsh, third-generation owner of the store that's been open since 1933. Walsh's father and grandfather had previously owned the hardware store.

Walsh has owned the business for the last 28 years and said the decision was based on a series of "business and personal considerations." The store has 21 full-time employees. While owning the store, Walsh has lived in California for the past decade.

Seven Corners Hardware was known for its high-quality tools and 1,500 accounts with Twin Cities contractors. Their products include 200 types of hammers, 400 screwdrivers, 170 files and 4,200 plumbing products.

"The quote is, 'If you can't find it at Seven Corners, you better think of something else,'" Walsh said. "That's something that makes me and my dad smile, and I know my grandfather would have smiled at that as well. All of us at Seven Corners are deeply grateful for our years in St. Paul and for the support we have received from this community."
