Minneapolis' Pillsbury Sign Set To Blaze Again

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Pillsbury sign that went dark and was removed will soon be restored to its berth overlooking the Mississippi river.

The "Pillsbury's Best Flour" sign was taken down in 2014 while crews worked to restore the Pillsbury A-Mill complex, which is being turned into lofts.

Starting next week, cranes will return the roughly 150-pound letters one-by-one to their former place atop the building.

"This is an exciting milestone for us," project developer Owen Metz said. "We've done a huge amount of work preserving the iconic landmark and restoring these buildings to their original character. Now we have a chance to restore the skyline of the St. Anthony Main area and the city of Minneapolis."

The process will take about a week to finish. The lights will now be LED.
