Located in the Twin Cities neighborhood of Dinkytown, Van Cleve Recreation Center has a large gymnasium that also serves as an indoor basketball court. A popular community spot, the recreation center is part of Van Cleve Park and was originally built as a children's playground. Professional and recreational sports groups, including athletes and faculty from the University of Minnesota, come to Dinkytown because of the Van Cleve Recreation Center's gymnasium. A suburban-like neighborhood full of small town charm, Dinkytown has proximity to the University of Minnesota.

Central Gym Park, like the Van Cleve Recreation Center, is a mecca for indoor and outdoor basketball enthusiasts. Often, the gym is an after-work destination for wound up adults who want to wind down with a few relaxing basketball rounds. Well heated and air conditioned with a magnificent floor layout, the mammoth facility is well suited to basketball and other sports. The center welcomes professional and amateur sports leagues, groups and teams. Open seven days per week, Minneapolis Sports Center encourages reservations for sporting events and recreational sport activities. This is the place to do serious multiple basketball shots before heading home.

The large basketball court is one of this YMCA's pros. Other pluses are nice locker rooms and good changing facilities. Although easy to access for those who live, work or attend school in Minneapolis, parking can be a challenge and a little expensive for those who drive in. But if indoor basketball is your thing and you happen to be in the area, drop into this downtown Y and enjoy a few inexpensive hoop shots.
