A list about the best cheesesteak sandwiches would not be complete without mention of Papa's. It was even named "Best Philly in Minnesota" by Minnesota Monthly last year. It's a great spot to grab a Philly for lunch, and it's located in the heart of the Victory Neighborhood in Minneapolis. This sandwich doesn't cut any corners; you get a half of a pound of steaming, grilled steak, piled high with sautéed peppers, onions and melty provolone cheese on a fresh Italian roll. Well, what are you waiting for? Grab your co-workers and head to Papa's today for a fantastic Philly cheesesteak.

Crumb Gourmet Deli toasts its country-style Italian roll, then layers on thinly-sliced, marinated sirloin steak, peppers, onions and two kinds of cheese (provolone and Parmesan) to make one of the best Philly cheesesteak sandwiches around. Crumb's price point and selection make it a perfect go-to for lunch or if you're on the go heading through the Eden Prairie area. This place makes sure to use only high-quality and fresh ingredients so the food stands a cut above most deli menus.

Uncle Franky's
10160 6th Ave N
Plymouth, MN 55441
(763) 746-3643

Price: $6

Uncle Franky's certainly does its Philly Cheesesteak sandwich its way. For a more 'rough around the edges' version with bursting flavor, try Franky's version of the cheesesteak sammie. Cooks cram shaved, grilled beef into a flaky baked roll, then it's loaded with - wait for it - Cheese Whiz, onions and giardiniera (aka pickled-veggies). Don't worry, if you're not too keen on the Whiz you can substitute it for mozzarella or American cheese; just don't ever ask for Swiss on this cheesesteak. There are three locations of Uncle Franky's in Dinkytown, Plymouth and Northeast Minneapolis. If you're looking for the Philly, be sure to go to the Plymouth location; the other two don't have it on their menu.

Price: $10.95 (includes hand-cut fries)

The Lyndale Tap House has low lighting, swanky urban decor, a fully stocked bar and an amazing Philly cheesesteak. The Tap House marinates its own pit meat for three days in a special blend of spices, grills it to the perfect temperature and char level and then slices it razor thin. Its mouth-watering sandwich is served on a toasted Kaiser bun with grilled onions and peppers and topped with melted white cheddar cheese and special sauce. This is one stand-out menu item at The Lyndale among a sea of delicious plates.

The Bulldog Lowertown
237 6th St E
St. Paul, MN 55101
(651) 221-0750

Price: $8.50 (includes chips and a pickle)

Some people go to the Bulldog for the Rasta Dip and some for its variety of hot dogs, but most go for the Philly Cheesesteak. This sandwich features the traditional, thinly sliced sirloin, sautéed peppers and onions, but here's the kick. The Bulldog adds to its cheese a hint of its own special blend of spices for some extra zip. These ingredients are served on the traditional hoagie bun that started it all in Philadelphia, so you can really feel like your eating a bite of sandwich history when you bite into one of these bad boys. The Bulldog has various locations throughout the metro that all offer its drool-worthy Philly.
