The retail giant announced that, starting Wednesday, it will offer same day appointments at all its stores and will take walk-ins without appointments at certain select stores, depending on availability.
The expansion of distribution to these two retail pharmacies will help more people access the vaccine, which for the first month and a half was only available via local public health clinics and super sites.
CVS said last week that it was receiving an initial allotment of 81,900 doses to be administered at 100 stores statewide.
CVS Pharmacies will begin offering vaccinations on Feb. 11, and appointments can be booked starting Feb. 9. The supply for the initial rollout, however, is approximately 81,900 total doses and come directly from the federal pharmacy partnership program, CVS officials said.
It expects to distribute the vaccine to 15,000 nursing homes and assisted living facilities across California and vaccinate about 698,000 people.
Patients are required to register in advance and make an appointment for the self-swab test. Parents must complete the online registration for minors, who must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when they come to be tested.
