'World's Largest Rubber Duck' Deflated To Prevent Damage

SAN PEDRO ( — The popular attraction of a 6-story-tall rubber duck in the Port of Los Angeles has been deflated for repairs.

High winds in the area forced harbor officials to pull the plug on what has been dubbed "the world's largest rubber duck."

The inflatable had been leaning to its side in recent days and was deflated to prevent further damage, officials said. The duck's fan that keeps her inflated needs to be fixed, so instead, people will have to make do with the 9-foot baby duck.

The duck, which is an art installation by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, is scheduled to return Tuesday for a tour at the downtown harbor in San Pedro.
