Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Setting Fires In Irvine

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to setting a string of arson fires in Irvine.

Jana Marie Spires, 39, was arraigned in a Santa Ana courtroom on five counts of arson of another's property and one count of arson of a structure, which are all felonies.

Police said Spires was arrested on May 21, near Springbrook Elementary School in Irvine after an officer reportedly spotted a stack of pizza boxes on fire only a few inches away from the building.

Spires is being held on $50,000 bail and faces up to nine years and four months in prison, if convicted.
