Spring training: and not just for the players. At the minor league West Michigan Whitecaps' home stadium -- called Fifth Third Ballpark, for some reason I am too lazy to research -- the team is running a poll to pick its new specialty food item for the 2011 season. In the running, so far:
The Meat Salad, described online as "Beef brisket, hot dogs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, gyro meat, Johnsonville bratwurst and hamburger: that's seven meats, served to those who believe each meal should have four different animals involved."

Then, the Duck, Hog, Frog dog: start with a hot dog, then throw frog legs and duck meat. (below)

Or, the real prize: the Walking Spaghetti.

And I quote: "(W)e've replaced the archaic concept of a plate with the innovative idea to carry this Italian delight around on garlic bread. We smother the giant 16-inch loaf of Cole's garlic bread with a pound of spaghetti, meatballs, a quart of marinara and a pound of cheese, and now it's Walking Spaghetti. Magnifico!" --And an alleged 5,630 calories (3 days-worth of calories for a typical adult.)
Incredibly, the food item that's leading the poll right now, is a veggie platter. Are you kidding me? We're at the ballpark for Pete's sake. If you want to check out your options, and maybe vote for something besides a veggie platter, here's the link. I gained weight, just reading it.
