Venice Woman Still Missing A Year After Her Disappearance
VENICE (CBS) — Police used the first anniversary of the disappearance of a 53-year-old Venice woman Thursday to again ask for the public's help in locating her.
Nancy Barrett was last seen July 14, 2010 around 4:45 p.m. near her home in the 2600 block of Grand Canal Court, said Officer Gregory Baek of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"Barrett moved from her apartment to her car, which was parked in front of her former home," Baek said. "She abandoned her car and possessions and left the area under unknown circumstances."
Barrett is described as white with brown hair and eyes. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. Police said her hair these days is likely "extremely gray" and she was last seen wearing green cargo pants and a tan sweater.
Authorities believe Barrett may be in the Venice Beach or Santa Monica areas.
Officials urged anyone with information regarding Barrett's whereabouts to contact the LAPD Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800 or (877) LAPD-24-7.
