Thousands Attend Immigration Forum On Obama's Reform Plan

LOS ANGELES ( — Thousands of immigrants turned out for a forum in Downtown L.A. Sunday to learn about President Obama's immigration reform plan.

The National Immigrant Integration Conference was held at the L.A. Convention Center. The Coalition For Humane Immigrant Rights of L.A. co-hosted the event, which brought together immigration experts and community organizations.

Many of the attendees say they're hoping Obama's plan will allow them to remain in the country legally. They say the information given at the forum proved invaluable.

"It's been very informative, because they tell us about updates. And to go through an actual lawyer and not to trust someone else who doesn't have the legal experience," forum participant Carlos Munos said.

The president's executive action could give up to five million immigrants the opportunity to legally stay in the U.S.
