Suspect Wounded In Boyle Heights Officer-Involved Shooting

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBS) — A suspect was wounded Monday by Los Angeles police, who responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance in Boyle Heights.

The shooting occurred in the 1400 block of East Third Street about 12:45 p.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Cleon Joseph.

The officers confronted the 56-year-old man and tried to subdue him with less-than-lethal weapons that "proved to be ineffective," Joseph said.

When the suspect continued threatening the officers, at least one of them opened fire, Joseph said.

The man's condition was not immediately available.
