Suspect arrested for running man over, firing shots at him outside of Lancaster barbershop

A man was arrested on suspicion of intentionally running another man over with his car before also firing shots at him in Lancaster on Tuesday, deputies said.

It happened at around 4:10 p.m. outside of a barbershop in the 44000 block of Beech Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies received reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area, which was just dozens of feet from the department's Lancaster Station, the LASD release said.

They arrived and found a man on the ground and began to render medical assistance until paramedics arrived. He was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was not shot but actually run over by a car. They learned that in the moments after he was run over, an unidentified suspect near the scene began to fire several rounds at the vehicle.

The man was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies said that they recovered a firearm at the scene as evidence.

Anyone who has more information was asked to contact LASD at (661) 948-8466.
