Stagecoach Country Music Festival Kicks Off In Indio
INDIO (CBS) — Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flats and Carrie Underwood headline the Stagecoach County Music Festival, which opened Saturday on the grounds of Indio's Empire Polo Club.
Among the top acts set to perform at the two-day festival, now in its 5th consecutive year, are Chesney, Rascal Flatts, K.d. Lang, Siss Boom Bang, Kris Kristofferson, Darius Rucker, formerly of "Hootie & The Blowfish" and Carrie Underwood on Sunday.
Police expect traffic to be congested throughout the weekend on Indio's west side. Several arterial roads -- Avenue 49 between Hjorth and Monroe streets, Avenue 50 between Madison and Jackson streets and both Hjorth and Madison streets between Avenues 49 and 50 -- will be closed Saturday.
Backups are also likely at Highway 111 intersections with Jefferson and Monroe streets, the Interstate 10 eastbound exits at Indio, and southbound Jefferson, Washington and Monroe streets between the freeway and Avenue 52.
The first sets were slated to begin at 2 p.m. Chesney is due on the "Mane Stage" at 9:30 tonight.
Ticket availability, set times and camping information is available on the festival's website.
