Seven Arrested For Baseball Attack On Midway City Cars

WESTMINSTER (CBS) — Seven people are being questioned Tuesday morning about five cars that were vandalized with possible metal baseball bats or tire irons in the Midway City area, sheriff's deputies said.

Five cars were found in the parking lot in front of Midway Manor Apartments Monday nights with broken windows, windshields and large dents, Lt. Dan Dwyer of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said. Neighbors reported seeing people jump into two cars and flee the scene.

Sheriff's deputies detained seven people who were found in Huntington Beach, based on a description of the cars.

The suspects could face felony vandalism charges for the cost of the destruction, Dwyer said.

A 26-year-old man in custody for questioning was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine.

The Orange County Register reported the vandalism was a retaliatory attack between two rival gangs, but Dwyer said that it was unclear if the crime was gang-related.
