Search Warrant Served In Canoga Park Linked To Missing Film Exec

CANOGA PARK (CBS) — A search warrant was being served on Friday in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of 20th Century Fox executive Gavin Smith.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies served the warrant the 8600 block of of Santa Susana Place in Canoga Park at 7:30 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Whitmore told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO the search warrant is just another step in the department's investigation.

"We still do not have any indication of any wrongdoing," said Whitmore. "This was just a location where our investigators believe there may be some information that could lead us to the whereabouts of Mr. Smith."

Whitmore would not specify what items if any were recovered in the search.

KNX 1070's Vytas Safronikas reports one eyewitness to the raid saw what appeared to be Special Weapons And Tactics officers at the scene.

"Fully suited, lotta guns, I heard them on the loudspeaker asking whoever lived in the house to come out, you're completely surrounded, there's no way out," he said.

Smith has been reported missing since May 1. He was last seen driving his Mercedes in Oak Park and left behind his cell phone charger, shaving kit and other personal items.
