Search Continues For Pregnant Woman Last Seen At Twentynine Palms Home

TWENTYNINE PALMS (CBSLA.com) — A search is continuing for a pregnant woman who went missing from her San Bernardino County home late last month.

Erin Corwin, 19, was last seen around 7 a.m. Saturday leaving her residence on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base. She was headed to Joshua Tree National Park.

The next day, Corwin's husband, Marine Cpl. Jonathan Wayne Corwin, reported to authorities that he had not heard from his wife.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department began an extensive search by air and on the ground, utilizing volunteers and search and rescue teams. The sheriff's Homicide Detail was also contacted to assist in the investigation, even though it's still a missing persons case.

"It's an ongoing investigation right now," Detective Marcel Silva said.

Corwin's vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Corolla, was found Monday near the base. Her phone, bank and social media accounts have not been touched.

Corwin's family flew in from Tennessee when they found out that their three-month pregnant daughter disappeared.

Lore Heavilin, who had planned on visiting her daughter, said the reason Corwin was going to Joshua Tree was to check it out as a possible spot they could go together.

"I mean, she was so excited about that upcoming trip. The things we were going to do," Heavilin said.

Heavilin is hoping the public can help find her daughter.

"I'd give anything to give her a hug right now," she said.

As for Corwin's husband, who sheriff's officials said has been cooperative, Heavilin said, "He's doing well, as well as you can [be] in a situation like this."

Corwin, who has no history of medical or psychological issues, was described as white, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
