Santa Clarita Single Mom Accused Of Selling Heroin
SANTA CLARITA (CBS) — A single mother of four was jailed Tuesday, after six bags of heroin were allegedly discovered being carried in her son's groin area.
According to police, Beatriz Flores, 31, of Lake Los Angeles, was stopped at Golden Valley Road and Robert C. Lee Parkway in Canyon Country at 5:45 p.m. Monday. Six bags of heroin were discovered in her 14-year-old son's groin area. Flores reportedly said she was only transporting the drugs to pay the rent.
Flores was booked on suspicion of possession of heroin for sales, transporting heroin, child endangerment and inducing a minor to transport heroin. While she was being booked, methamphetamine was also allegedly found in her clothing, adding an additional potential charge to the list against her, police said.
Flores was being held in the Santa Clarita Valley Station jail, with bail set at $250,000.
Her 14-year-old and an 11-year-old children were immediately placed under the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children's Services. Authorities say an investigation into the welfare of her two other children is pending.
