San Onofre Siren System To Undergo Annual Testing Wednesday
SAN CLEMENTE (CBS) — Officials will be testing the emergency siren system at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Wednesday.
The system, which alerts neighboring communities in the event of a disaster, will undergo annual testing for two hours.
Between 10 a.m. and noon, 50 sirens located in communities around the plant will be activated several times for about three minutes each.
Officials are advising residents in Dana Point, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Camp Pendleton not to be alarmed.
