Salmonella Outbreaks Linked to Fig & Olive Restaurant in West Hollywood, D.C.

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — An upscale restaurant frequented by stars and celebrities is linked to salmonella outbreaks at two of its locations in West Hollywood and in Washington, D.C.

According to the Food Poisoning Bulletin website, as many as 160 people may have been sickened after eating at Fig & Olive. The site reports at least a dozen people, including employees, in West Hollywood suffered food poisoning. Nine of the cases have been confirmed by the Los Angeles County Health Department.

The site reports Fig & Olive in CityCenterDC closed for six days after reports of sickened guests. It reopened last week after being cleared by the D.C. Department of Health.

Two items were removed from the menu at the DC location: truffle fries and mushroom croquettes, according to the Bulletin. But it is not known if those items were linked to the outbreak.
