California Sends Out Emergency Push Alert For Stay-At-Home Order

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA) - California officials Tuesday sent out an emergency push notification to mobile phones statewide to notify residents about the stay-at-home order.

The Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) was sent in the following Southern California counties: Imperial, Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

The alert stated that "COVID-19 is spreading rapidly" and urged dresidents to stay home.

The alerts come as the most recent statistics on COVID-19, including data on intensive care unit (ICU) capacity, shows that Southern California has dropped below 15% capacity triggering regional stay-at-home orders.

Residents in the San Joaquin Valley will also receive a push alert.
