Recalled Chicken Salad May Contain Hard Plastic

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — About 72,000 pounds of canned chicken salad products were recalled Sunday after consumers complained they found hard plastic in the product.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the recall for 8.2-ounce packages of Bumble Bee Lunch on the Run Chicken Salad Complete Lunch Kit and 3.5-ounce packages of Bumble Bee Chicken Salad With Crackers. The lunch kits indicate a "Best By" date of 7/11 and the chicken salad with crackers, which are labeled "ready to eat," have a "Best By" date of 1/12 or 2/12.

The chicken salad is canned by the Suter Company, Inc. of Illinois.

The cans of chicken salad are labeled with establishment number "P-169" inside the USDA mark of inspection and the lot code "0225XXQBC."

The FSIS says the recall was issued after consumers complained of finding hard plastic in the chicken salad.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
