Razor Blades, Sharp Objects Found At Victor Valley Park

VICTOR VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A shocking discovery at a park near Victorville has residents on edge.

Double-edged razor blades, bent forks and other sharp items were found Tuesday at Oro Grande Park by maintenance employees, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

"Many of the blades were wedged into the playground equipment with intent to conceal the dangerous items so they would injure the children," Dep. Brandon Kirkendall said.

A bent fork was placed underneath a swing set.

"The razor blades were placed at the bottom of the slide, sticking up, so as a child came down a slide, they would land directly on the blades," Dep. Staci Parks said.

Maintenance workers scanned the park and dismantled the disturbing traps.

Still, parents were advised to examine sand and park equipment prior to allowing children to play.

"It makes me feel like I don't want to bring my son out here no more," Victorville resident Charmmaine Rojas said. All these hoodlums walking around in this neighborhood, I guess it's unsafe."

"I'm shocked. I can't believe someone would do something like that," resident Victor Herrera said.

Officials said anyone who's witnessed someone or something strange should contact deputies at (760) 552-6800.
