Puppy Found With Gang Tattoo On His Belly Looking For A Home

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A nine-month-old abandoned puppy with gang writing tattooed on his belly is looking for a home.

The American pit bull terrier mixed named Petey was found with his tail broken in three places and tied to a pole outside of a doughnut shop in the city of Lomita.

A senior citizen found Petey and had him de-wormed, vaccinated, and microchipped despite being on a fixed income, according to affiliates of ROMP Rescue, a Van Nuys-based non-profit that helps transition animals out of local shelters and into permanent homes.

Animal advocate Erica told CBS2 that Petey will likely have to be placed in a secure home where rival gangs will not use him as a payback.

It's believed that Petey was being groomed by local gang members to be a fighting pit bull, according to Erica.
