Popular Runyon Canyon Hiking Spot To Use Valet Parking App

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — LA's Runyon Canyon hiking spot is a favorite among Angelenos, but more tiring than hiking the trails themselves is the attempt to find parking.

The popular spot, located in the Hollywood Hills, has become known just as much for its lack of parking as it has for its attractive scenery.

This parking congestion may see some relief, now that a smartphone app for valet parking at Runyon Canyon is set to launch over the weekend.

A free, cashless valet app, named 'Curbstand' will be operating at the corner of Fuller an Hillside.

"One day, I was coming down the mountain, and I knew I had to hike some more to my car, and I was thinking how awesome it would be if we had valet here at Runyon," Curbstand's Joey Hernandez said.

The Curbstand app has already implemented valet parking in 130 locations around Los Angeles.

The app works by letting the valet service know about 15 minutes before your arrival from your hike, and your vehicle will be brought around.

Hikers, meanwhile, are curious to see how the valet system will work.

"(It's) part excitement, part, is this going to make my parking harder if I don't want to use valet," one hiker said.

The Curbstand valet service is expected to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
