SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) —  Police in Simi Valley on Saturday announced the arrest of a robbery and kidnap suspect they were hunting for more than a week.

Officials said 19-year-old Simi Valley resident Caleb Bauer robbed a 7-Eleven located at Royal Avenue and Sycamore Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 3 around 3:20 a.m.

Detectives from the Narcotics Unit were acting on information Friday that Bauer was in the area of the Simi Valley Town Center Mall. They established a surveillance of the area and observed Bauer riding a bike. Detectives began to follow the suspect which quickly led to a foot pursuit. They lost the suspect near the Jefferson Way Apartments, north of the mall.

Patrol and K-9 officers responded to the scene and joined the search. A Ventura County Sheriff's helicopter also arrived to assist. A K-9 unit ultimately tracked the suspect. The helicopter also provided information that helped to locate Bauer who was allegedly hiding in some bushes.

Bauer was arrested and booked at Ventura Main Jail for robbery and kidnapping.

No information was released on the age, gender or physical well-being of the kidnap victim.
