Pet Dog Stabbed Five Times Outside Santa Paula Home; Suspect Sought

SANTA PAULA (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help on Monday to locate a suspect who stabbed a pet dog outside of a home in Santa Paula.

Around 5 p.m. on Friday, officers were sent to a home located in the area of 14th and Saticoy streets for report of a heinous incident involving animal cruelty, according to the Santa Paula Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned an unknown suspect stabbed an American Staffordshire Terrier, named T-Rex, five times outside of his home.

Police believe the suspect intentionally let T-Rex and a second dog out of the backyard of the home.

Several residents in the area were able to rush the injured dog to Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center.

Employees of the rescue center were able to provide aid to T-Rex, who was later transported to an emergency veterinary clinic in the City of Ventura.

According to veterinarians, he is reported to be in good condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

The second dog was located uninjured by a fence at her home, shaking.

The animal rescue group, Start Rescue, has doubled its reward offer to $2,000 to locate the suspect.
