Parents Flock To Toys 'R' Us In Los Feliz For Holiday Bargains

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A steady stream of dedicated shoppers filled in at the Toys R Us location in Los Feliz on Thursday.

Some shopping carts were overflowing as some bargain hunters scooped up deals, looking to save hundreds of dollars before the holiday season.

"Shopkins. Yeah - I haven't heard about it, but they asked me for it, so let's see," shopper Debora Darcadia told KCAL9's Tom Wait.

Shopkins is one of the hottest items at Toys R' Us. It's a board game for kids ages five and up, but according to Darcadia, it's just one of the reasons she came out tonight to shop.

"I don't think we're going to come tomorrow - we just wanted to get it done tonight," she added.

Other hot items are toys from the new Star Wars movie and of course, video games, but many parents told us they were simply looking for the best possible deals.

Denise Meija told Tom Wait, "I came in here for a couple of things. I came here for some board games - they're on special, they're only five dollars - usually they're about fifteen dollars, so that's awesome."

"There's this Mini Cooper car [toy] that I really like. I feel like my daughter would love it," Dhanam Guda said.

A food truck was even on-hand to feed the discount-seeking shoppers.

Waiting in line on Thanksgiving is clearly becoming a tradition.

"More than anything, it's the experience and the bonding time. We don't have our daughter right now," Juan Sierra said.

The Toys "R" Us in Los Feliz will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday night.
