NFL Owners To Hold Special Meeting On Stadium Proposals In August

LOS ANGELES ( — A special meeting set to be held later this summer could move the National Football League closer to bringing a team - or two - back to Southern California.

League owners are scheduled to hold a special meeting Aug. 11 to review the status of stadium negotiations involving the three teams - the Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams - thought to be leading candidates for a possible move to the Southland, according to the NFL Network.

The meeting is being described as largely informational and no decisions on relocation of any teams is expected to be made at that time.

It comes about two months ahead of a previously scheduled meeting set for October.

The Raiders and Chargers are planning a shared stadium if both teams fail to get new stadiums in their current hometowns.

It's one of two stadium proposals in the Los Angeles area this year: St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is part of a group planning to build a stadium in nearby Inglewood.
