21-year-old woman killed in Mission Viejo crash caused by alleged street racing, Orange County deputies say

A 21-year-old Orange County woman was killed in a crash that was allegedly caused by street racing on Thursday night, according to authorities. 

The crash happened at around 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Los Alisos Boulevard and Mustang Run, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. 

"A preliminary investigation revealed the cause of the accident was a result of street racing," a news release from OCSD said. Upon arrival, they found that one car had crashed at the intersection. 

Deputies said that 21-year-old Rancho Santa Margarita woman Shalia Deciderio was killed in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority personnel. 

The driver of the car involved in the crash, Jaime Rojas, 20, of Mission Viejo, was hospitalized after the crash. His condition was not immediately noted. The driver of the second vehicle, Aiden Deciderio, also a 20-year-old from Mission Viejo, was uninjured and remained at the scene, deputies said. 

Both Rojas and Aiden Deciderio were arrested for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. 

"The Orange County Sheriff's Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation into this fatal collision," the release said.
