Manny Pacquiao Credits Wife, Faith With Changing His Life

WEST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, who has the biggest fight of his career coming up, spent Sunday morning here in LA, at the church where he converted to Christianity four years ago.

Pacquiao received a tremendous welcome at Shepherd Church, where he spoke not about his upcoming, highly-profile fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., but about his own former internal spiritual battles.

"The bible will teach you, will guide you," Pacquiao told the crowd. "The bible will direct your path, where you're going."

Pacquiao shared that, four years ago, he heard a sermon from the church's pastor, and that they convinced him to convert to Christianity.

While the boxing champ had gathered plenty of success in the ring, his personal and family life suffered, he revealed. Being thrust into the spotlight, he says, opened him to drinking, gambling and womanizing.

He credits his wife and his faith with changing him.

"That was my life before, and now my life (has) big changes," Pacquiao said.
