Man Reunited With Box Of Wife's Ashes Taken By Robbers

HIGHLAND (CBS) Art Pauly was relieved that neighbors and police were able to track down a box containing his wife's ashes after it had been snatched in a home robbery.

The box had been stolen, along with computer equipment, a tv, and jewelry -- all of which seemed trivial compared to the loss of his wife's remains. Apparently the robbers thought the box contained jewels, and not ashes.

Pauley was devastated after losing the ashes before her memorial.

"Thinking I would never get her back, that I lost her once, now I lost her (again), and I'm never gonna get her back," he said.

Pauly's wife died two weeks ago. The couple had been together 23 years.

"She was my rock, I was her rock. We did everything together," he said.

Highland police say they are investigating the robbery. No arrests have been made.
