Man Charged With Videotaping Children In Bathroom At Birthday Party

MOORPARK (CBSLA.com) — Inside a bathroom, tucked behind a wall under construction, a small camera secretly recorded women and children going to the bathroom, according to Moorpark police.

Sergio Salgado, 53, a married man with children of his own, faces two felony charges, including a child pornography charge.  He is currently free on bail.

Police say the recording took place at a birthday party for a 2-year-old earlier this summer. A family member discovered the hidden camera and called police.

"That's horrible and it terrifies me," Yadira Amezzoa. "I don't even want to imagine."

Neighbors are shocked but not as surprised as the woman who owns the Moorpark home where the alleged recordings took place.

She said Salgado is a long time family friend, who was always respectful. She's disturbed that he's accused of doing this. Not only have the two families known one another about two decades, they live just a few houses apart.

Detectives have identified 14 different victims, four of whom are children. Police say they were able to accuse Salgado because he was also on video putting the camera into the wall.
