Man Caught On Camera Trying To Run Over Good Samaritans Trying To Help Girlfriend They Believe He Attacked

TEMECULA ( — A man in Temecula was arrested Tuesday after being caught on camera running down a group of Good Samaritans trying to help a woman he allegedly was attacking.

It happened around 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Food 4 Less in the 26000 block of Ynez Road.

"Gentleman and his girlfriend or fiancé were in the store fighting. It led to the outside, and basically, he got angry. And the crowd tried to stop him," security guard Mikell Stansberry recalled.

Amy Mining said she witnessed the incident and ran over to help. "I see him just puts his hand on her, and I just kind of dropped my papers and run across the street and start grabbing her out of his grip.," Mining said. "He was hurting her. He could have done a lot worse."

As bystanders tried to help the girlfriend, the suspect got into his car, revved his engine and drove into the group of bystanders, according a witness who captured the incident on her phone.

As he backed up his car, he appeared to have struck a woman, who had fallen to the ground, almost killing her, the video showed.

"From the footage and from what I can see, it looks like he hit her but not too hard," Mining recalled. "He was insane at that point. He was sitting there laughing and crying at the same time."

Witnesses swung and kicked his car windows and doors trying to get him to stop his car, but he drove off and did some donuts in the parking lot.

Witnesses immediately called Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies, who later took the man into custody.

Brian Ferrer, 25, was arrested on a charge of assault with deadly weapon.

His aunt told CBS2's Crystal Cruz that he and his girlfriend were arguing because the girlfriend stole beer and he tried to grab it and return it.

Ferrer's mother said she believed the bystanders wanted to kill her son.
