Inglewood Standoff Ends In Apparent Murder-Suicide

INGLEWOOD (CBS) — A suspect and his victim are dead after an apparent murder-suicide at an Inglewood business, police said.

Inglewood police responded to a shooting that was reported around 11 a.m. at the Inglewood Optometric Center in the 200 block of North Market Street.

Once authorities arrived, they found a male suspect barricaded inside the business with a woman who he allegedly shot. Officials said the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Police entered the store and found the woman shot in the torso. She was transported to a local hospital in grave condition where she later died.

Once the victim was evacuated, police called in the SWAT team.

"At approximately 1:30 PM, a SWAT team entered the business and located a male in the bathroom suffering from what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot wound," Inglewood police said in a statement.

He was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Police are investigating a motive for the shooting. The identity of the woman and the suspect were not released.
